Searching & Finding
Use search bar to find terms, descriptions and explanations in EuroTermBank
and external databases (if selected in advanced options).
To start searching:
- Enter the term to search for (1)
- Select one or few target languages (3)
Here is a summary of search options and their meanings:

Search keywords field
|
Enter one or more terms or a phrase to search for.

Source language (default: English)
|
Select the language to translate from.
|

Target language
|
Select the language(s) to translate into.
|

Domain
|
Select the domain group or a sub-domain to narrow your search.
If you select a domain group, search will be done also in all sub-groups.

Match
|
Set search mode:
All words - will only retrieve data that contain all keywords entered into
the Search field (1);
Any of words - will retrieve data that contain any of keywords entered into
the Search field (1);
Exact match - will retrieve data that exactly match the search phrase entered
into the Search field (1).

Search also in: definitions and explanations
|
Select this if you want to search also in term definitions and explanations.
|

Search also in: all forms
|
Select this if you want to expand the search to all conjugation forms of a term,
as well as similar conjugations that are not root forms of a term.

Search also in: external databases
|
Select this if you wish to include results from external sources.

Understanding results
Search result screen consists of the following areas:

Displays a list of terms matching the search criteria
(see Searching & Finding).

Result view mode
|
Shows details of the selected term based on two types of tasks:
- Translations View - displays terms by language; useful for translation tasks.
- Entries View - displays terms by source; useful for terminology exploration tasks.

Selected term's details
|
A list of terms related to the term selected in the search result area (1).
Terms can be displayed by language (Translations View) or by source
(Entries View), see (2). Clicking on the term row opens a list of entries
related to the selected term grouped by language with the following data
on each entry:
- Source of the term
- Language
- Related term(s)
- Term's domains

Result display options
|
Options for term's details area (3) display:
- Show source - shows or hides term's source
- Show domains - shows or hides term's domains
- Show definitions (X) - shows or hides term's definitions where X - number or definitions
found in results

Result filters
|
To dynamically narrow the results, use the following filtering options:
- Filter by domain - shows only entries which contain the selected domains;
- Filter by language - shows only entries which contain the selected languages.
