The State Commission of the Lithuanian Language has joined the EuroTermBank Consortium by signing the EuroTermBank Consortium agreement on November 16, 2007.
The State Commission of the Lithuanian Language (or VLKK, Valstybinė lietuvių kalbos komisija) was first established in 1961 and since 1990 is a state-run institution. Its mandate comprises not only regulation and standardisation of the language, but also implementation of the official language status of the Lithuanian language. In accordance to the Law on Term Bank of the Republic of Lithuania, the State Commission of the Lithuanian Language is in charge of creation and maintenance of the national Term Bank of Lithuania.
The State Commission of the Lithuanian Language plans to interlink its termbase to EuroTermBank, to make the official Lithuanian terminology available to international audiences along with terminology collections for many other European languages.
